Job Description
Black Rock Specialist Training Centre (BRSTC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced First Aid Training Lead to join our dedicated team operating in a challenging, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment. Supporting specialist firearms operations across three police forces Avon & Somerset, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire this vital role plays a key part in delivering high-quality tactical medical training. You ll work alongside professionals with varied specialist firearms teams utilising your skills to ensure training remains aligned with the National Policing Firearms Training Curriculum (NPFTC).

You'll be part of a unique training centre at the forefront of tactical firearms training nationally.

As the first Specialist Tactical Medic Trainer in the UK, you will have the opportunity to shape and deliver life-saving first aid training that supports some of the most critical roles in UK policing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of first aid training (including D13 and FREC Level 3 & 4) across all three forces, ensuring alignment with NPFTC standards and CFI-approved lesson plans.
  • Ensure accurate training documentation using the Chronicle database, supporting audit, inspection, and national curriculum requirements.
  • Provide refresher training and develop bespoke lesson packages to maintain the competence of Tactical Medics and instructors across the Tri-Force and CTSFO region.
  • Work with Clinical Governance leads and partner agencies to deliver realistic scenario training, while assessing training effectiveness and operational readiness.
  • Maintain HCP registration, complete regular clinical contact sessions, and engage in ongoing CPD to support personal and organisational excellence.

Essentials Skills

  • Current, qualified, and HCPC-registered Paramedic with evidence of ongoing compliance and professional development.
  • Minimum Level 3 teaching qualification (e.g., AEAT) and assessor qualification, with experience delivering training to varied audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Confident in using IT systems and platforms such as Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, and Excel
  • You must hold a bank registration contract with an NHS Trust.

Desirable skills

• Hold a level 4 (CEAT) or be prepared to achieve a L4 (CEAT) within a 12 month period

• Emergency services or military experience or knowledge

Additional Information

The post will be a fixed term contract for 23 Months.

You will be based at Black Rock Specialist Training Centre (BRSTC) and your working hours will run on a rota basis as below:

Week one - Monday - Thursday - 7am - 5pm

Week Two - Tuesday Friday - 7am - 5pm

This working pattern can be flexible for the successful candidate, and we will consider applications from individuals wishing to work on a part time basis.

The post holder will be required to travel across the Tri-Force area (Avon and Somerset, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire) to various training sites, and may also be expected to attend regional or national meetings as needed.

Shortlisting for this role is due to take place on weeks commencing 23rd & 30th June with in-person Interviews provisionally scheduled for the week commencing 21st July at Black Rock Specialist Training Centre.
