Job Description
This roleprovides psychological input to Insight, which provides early intervention toadults experiencing a first episode of psychosis (0.8wte) and to the SpecialistOutreach and Recovery Team (SORT) (0.2wte) which provides communityrehabilitation for people affected by complex psychosis.

The roleincludes delivering psychological interventions, supporting the delivery ofpsychologically informed care and contributing to the development andmaintenance of quality across the service. This is likely to include theprovision of individual and group interventions to service users and theirfamily members, supporting other team members in developing psychologicalformulations to inform care planning, providing consultation, advice andtraining to the multidisciplinary team, facilitating reflective practice,providing debrief and contributing to service development activities.

This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route; please refer to the Direct Gov website for more information with regards to eligibility.

Tocontribute a psychosocial perspective within the multidisciplinary teamincluding for those service users not directly on the psychological therapycaseload and attend individual patient reviews and risk management meetingswhere appropriate.

To liaiseeffectively with professionals working in other service areas or organisationsto support increased understanding of the psychological needs of service usersand contribute to service users making successful transitions and thatappropriate support is available to them.

Job responsibilities Work withmembers of the multi-disciplinary team to develop a system for managingreferrals for psychological intervention, including triage and assessmentprocesses and a waiting list system, as agreed with agreed with the leadpsychologist and service managers.

Providecomprehensive psychological assessment, including risk assessment, and developpsychological formulations to support service users and other members of theMDT in making sense of their difficulties.

Identifyand deliver appropriate individual and group interventions to service users andtheir families.

Manageresources appropriately.

Identifyand provide opportunities for other members of the multi-disciplinary team togain understanding of how psychological knowledge can support their work withservice users, through developing psychological formulations with team members,participating in multi-disciplinary meetings and decision making or otheropportunities for providing consultancy and advice.

In liaisonwith service managers, identify and deliver opportunities for staff learningand reflection, through reflective practice, debrief and training sessions.

In liaisonwith service managers, identify opportunities for and conduct servicedevelopment projects in collaboration with other members of themultidisciplinary team.

Participatein and contribute to CPD and peer supervision within the wider SAMHP team.

Engage inappropriate practice supervision.

5. MAINDUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical:

To provide apsychological service to specialist community psychosis teams, includingassessment, risk assessment, formulation and delivering psychologicalinterventions to service users and their families in either individual or groupformats, according to need. Four days a week will be spent with Insight (firstepisode psychosis service) and one day a week with SORT (complex psychosisservice)

To maintainaccurate clinical records and record data as required by the organisation.

Tocommunicate both orally and through letters and reports, highly complexinformation concerning assessment, formulation and intervention plans toservice users, professional colleagues and to family members, as appropriate,

To providespecialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to otherprofessionals contributing directly to service users formulation, diagnosisand treatment plan.

Teaching, training andsupervision

To provideregular reflective practice sessions to the multi-disciplinary teams and otherad-hoc opportunities for reflection on practice, including individual or groupdebriefing following incidents.

To providetraining to other members of the multidisciplinary team in the delivery ofpsychologically informed care and treatment.

Tocontribute to CPD and peer supervision sessions within the wider SAMHP team.

To receiveregular clinical supervision from an appropriately qualified and experiencedsupervisor, in accordance with the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology and theHCPC guidelines and, where appropriate, from other senior professionalcolleagues.

Management, recruitment,policy and service development:

Toparticipate in multi-disciplinary meetings concerned with the delivery anddevelopment of clinical services and contribute a psychological perspective asappropriate.

Tocontribute as required to the planning and development of the operationalpolicies and service delivery in the specialistcommunity psychosis teams through undertaking agreed project work.

To adviseservice and professional management on those aspects of the service wherepsychological matters need addressing in line with service excellence andservice objectives.

Tocontribute to proposals for and implementation of policy and servicedevelopment changes in relation to psychology and psychological therapies withinthe specialist community psychosis teams.

Tocontribute to the development of user and carer involvement in the service.

To utilise theory,evidence based literature and research to support evidence based practice inindividual work and work with other team members.

To contribute toproject management, including complex audit, research and service evaluationprojects, with colleagues within the service, to help develop serviceprovision.

To provide researchadvice to other staff undertaking research, including doctoral trainee clinicalpsychologists and assistant psychologists undertaking research as appropriate.

Professional:

To attend SpecialistAdult Mental Health Psychology meetings, operational service and other relevantmeetings regularly.

To adhere toprofessional/accrediting body codes of conduct, policies and procedures (e.g.HCPC, BABCP, BPS).

To be aware of, adhereto, and where appropriate, contribute to the formulation and review of Trust,Area and Service policies and procedures.

To maintain and develophigh standards of psychology/psychological therapy practice by engaging incontinuing professional development and co-operative working/networking withtherapy, counselling and clinical psychologist colleagues.
