Due to promotion, we are delighted to be able to offer a number of specialist clinical pharmacist posts at Wythenshawe and Trafford hospitals that will rotate annually through all clinical specialties within the department.
It's an exciting time for us following the launch of Hive EPR across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated pharmacists to come and join our teams in our transformational journey.
You will form an integral part of the pharmacy team and wider MDT, playing an essential role in optimising patient care and medicines use, and will contribute to the weekend, bank holiday, late night and on-call rotas as scheduled. You must be motivated to provide high quality care, improve the service and identify areas requiring service development to ensure patients' needs are met.
We are a supportive department and offer a variety of education and development opportunities, from weekly learning at lunch sessions, to supporting staff with postgraduate qualifications such as non medical prescribing in accordance with the needs of the service.
Main duties of the jobYou will work on a rotational basis across a range of clinical specialties including: Acute Medicine, General Medicine & Complex Health, Medical Specialties, General and Specialist Surgery, Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery, Tertiary Respiratory services (including CF), Pulmonary oncology and palliative care, Tertiary Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery including Heart & Lung Transplantation, Paediatrics/neonatology and Women's health, Critical care (acute ICU, cardiothoracic critical care including ECMO), neuro rehab / stroke. Your role will also support Antimicrobial Stewardship and Medicines Safety agenda.
The post holder will be responsible for providing a high quality pharmacy service to allocated clinical areas, ensuring timely and accurate medicines reconciliation on admission, ongoing inpatient monitoring and review in accordance with agreed acuity and complexity requirements, and optimising medications to deliver a safe and appropriate discharge service to patients. They will support the directorate lead pharmacist and be expected to actively participate in organisational medicines safety and risk management initiatives, including audit, incident reporting and QI projects.
The post holder will also be involved in supporting the wider multidisciplinary team in the safe and effective use of medicines, and the promotion of the pharmacy service across the site.

Person Specification Skills- Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
- Ability to work on initiative and as part of the team.
- Ability to problem solve
- Analysis of complex information relating to individual patients medication
- Ability to recognise own limitations and boundaries and need to consult with senior colleagues.
- Negotiation and influencing skills.

- Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Post graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience
- Vocational 4 year masters degree in pharmacy
- 1 year pre registration training and experience
- Certificate in Independent Prescribing
- 2 years post registration hospital experience or equivalent documented clinical experience
- Experience in delivering pharmaceutical care
- Experience in training and supervising others
- Audit / research experience
- Experience of delivering a clinical pharmacy service
- Evidence of published audit/ research
