Special Needs Teaching Assistant

A Special school in Haringey is looking for a teaching assistant to join their team to work in a class of 7 pupils aged 11-14 years of age. The pupils have a range of complex needs, including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.

Some pupils are non-verbal and use PECS and Makaton to communicate, so experience or knowledge in these areas is required. Having a certificate in Team Teach (positive handling) is highly desired too in the successful teaching assistant. Some of the pupils require personal care, so this is part of the role.

The school has wonderful resources and is well thought of in the community and the staff are dedicated and provide excellent care and education to the pupils.
