We are seeking a compassionate Special Educational Needs Practitioner to join our clients team. You will work directly with pupils, providing tailored support for individuals with specific needs, and help them thrive in our welcoming mainstream setting.
Role & Responsibilities- Providing Therapeutic Support: Work with pupils on therapy or care programs to support their emotional and physical development.
- Individualised and Small Group Work: Deliver specific learning interventions for individual pupils or small groups, ensuring that each child receives the support they need to succeed.
- Collaborative Working: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that the learning and care plans for pupils are effectively implemented.
- Supporting Inclusion: Ensure that pupils with additional needs are fully included in classroom activities and school life, helping them to feel engaged and confident.
- Monitoring Progress: Regularly track and assess the progress of the pupils you work with, reporting back to the SENCO and teachers to ensure their needs are being met.
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a school setting (ideally primary).
- Knowledge of therapy or care programs and experience delivering tailored support.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
- A patient, calm, and flexible attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs.
- A commitment to the ethos of inclusion, ensuring all pupils are given the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
- Relevant qualification in SEN, childcare, or a related field (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, CACHE).
- Experience working with children with specific therapy or care needs.
- First Aid training or a willingness to undertake training.
