Job Description
Special Educational Needs Co Ordinator (SENCO)

Salary: £32,916 (M1) - £51,047 (UPS3) per year + Higher SENCO SEN allowance.

Role: Special Educational Needs Co Ordinator (SENCO) - join our growing school to shape the future of our children and young people as part of a dynamic team.

What you'll be doing:
  • Lead the strategic development and delivery of SEND provision across the school
  • Coordinate day-to-day SEND support and ensure effective provision for all pupils
  • Ensure compliance with SEND Code of Practice, legislation and inclusive practice
  • Support and advise staff on high-quality teaching strategies for pupils with SEND
  • Monitor pupil progress, analyse data and drive improved outcomes
  • Oversee EHC plans, interventions and targeted support for individual needs
  • Lead, develop and deploy SEND staff, including training and performance input
  • Manage relationships with parents, carers and external agencies to support pupils
  • Maintain accurate records, assessments and SEND administration systems
  • Promote safeguarding, inclusive practice and a safe learning environment for all pupils
What we're looking for:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) and a degree in a relevant field
  • Have taught across different key stages
  • Possess previous experience in a similar role
  • Hold the NASENCO/NPQSENDCO qualification
  • Experience of working with children and young people with SEND and ASC
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in teaching methods

Opened in 2018, Oakbridge School is an independent special day school in Birmingham with a specially designed learning environment created to meet the needs of autistic children. We provide a calm, low arousal, safe, positive and nurturing place where young people can learn and grow.

Oakbridge School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education and care for children aged 7 19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
