Frequently referred to as the celebrity hotspot or just the spot for its delicious Haitian and Caribbean food, amazing cocktails and vibes. Position Overview

We are looking for a passionate, high-energy Chef to lead the kitchen in our intimate Caribbean restaurant. You won't just be following recipes; you'll be the heart of our kitchen, responsible for delivering the bold, soulful flavours that define us.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety & Sanitation: Uphold rigorous food safety and hygiene standards and make sure that all kitchen staff members do the same
  • Culinary Execution: Prepare and cook by following current methods and recipes in preparation of meals
  • Kitchen Management: Manage daily food prep, inventory levels, and ordering from local suppliers to ensure ingredients are always fresh.
  • Quality Control: Maintain high standards of plating, portion control, and flavour consistency during busy service windows.
  • Team Leadership: Train and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a positive, collaborative atmosphere.
  • Extra duties: Occasionally takes on extra duties when arisen especially when the kitchen is short-staffed, outside catering event or the restaurant is particularly busy
  • Work schedule: Oversee working hours for kitchen staff so as to ensure smooth flow of activities in the kitchen and the restaurant at large
  • Customers: Make sure that meal is prepared and served to customers in a timely manner
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels: so as to place orders for supplies as at when due
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with ownership to refine seasonal specials and modern twists on classic Caribbean food.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Flavor Mastery: Knowledgeable about Caribbean spices, marinades, and traditional cooking techniques.
  • Experience: 2+ years of professional cooking experience, preferably in a fast-paced or ethnic cuisine environment.
  • Efficiency: Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure in a small-footprint kitchen.
  • Adaptability: A no-task-is-too-small attitude, essential for the success of a tight-knit, independent restaurant.
  • Reliability: Strong work ethic and punctuality, our community relies on us being ready when the doors open
  • Good and effective communication skills so as to be able to pass ideas across to kitchen staff and also understand what exactly customers want
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate activities in pressing situations
  • Must be creative and proactive in attending to the various needs of customers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant culinary degree or certification.
  • Food Handlers / Food Safety Certification.
