We're looking for a talented, motivated, and hands-on Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and support the continued success of our busy gastropub and its thriving takeaway service. You'll work closely with the Head Chef and a dedicated team of five, playing a key role in maintaining our high standards of food quality, consistency, and creativity.
As Sous Chef, you'll take a lead role in day-to-day kitchen operations - from supporting menu development and supervising junior chefs to ensuring smooth service during our busiest periods.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head Chef in managing and motivating the kitchen team.
Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in line with our standards.
Maintain excellent food safety and hygiene practices at all times.
Oversee stock control, ordering, and waste management to ensure efficiency.
Assist in menu planning, dish development, and implementation of new ideas.
Train, mentor, and support junior chefs and kitchen porters.
Ensure a clean, organized, and well-run kitchen environment.
Take charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
Work effectively under pressure during busy service periods, particularly evenings and weekends.
