Dufferin Arms is a busy family-run pub in the picturesque village of Killyleagh Co.Down. We run a fast-paced kitchen with a friendly, down to earth team who work hard to deliver great food and service in a safe and happy work environment. Our kitchen team is like a second family-we've got each other's backs and we're proud of the commitment and care everyone brings to the table.

We are looking for an experienced, passionate "hands on" SOUS CHEF to join our team. You'll support our Head Chefs in running service, assisting with management of the team and ensuring high standards of food and hygiene. This role is ideal for a strong cook ready to step up or an experienced SOUS ready for a new challenge.

The ideal candidate for this position has minimum 2 years experience however it is not a "deal breaker" as enthusiasm and a strong work ethic be will make up for lack of experience.

Responsibilities:

Lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chefs
Cook on the line during service (grill, block, pass, fryers etc)
Follow recipes and food preparation techniques for prep and service without supervision
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Adhere to health and safety regulations.
Prepare ingredients for cooking when needed to support menu execution.
Monitor food quality while preparing food and ensure proper portioning of food items.
Assist with stock control and ordering
Assist with training & supervision of junior staff/part time roles

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract

Expected hours: 35 - 45 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:
Downpatrick BT30 9QF: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:
Kitchen: 2 years (preferred)
Cooking: 2 years (preferred)
