Job Description
Overview

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Agricultural Solicitor to join a highly regarded Yorkshire practice, based in Malton, at the heart of one of the region's most active rural and farming communities. This role offers exposure to a high-quality and varied agricultural caseload, advising long-standing rural clients across North Yorkshire.

The work is heavily rooted in the local landscape and client base, including working family farms, landed estates, tenant farmers, mixed arable and livestock operations, and agri-businesses. You will advise on Farm Business Tenancies, Agricultural Holdings Act matters, grazing licences, agricultural property transactions, development agreements (including options, easements and overage), and lender security and funding arrangements. The role combines technical agricultural law with trusted adviser relationships and practical, commercially focused advice.

Responsibilities
  • Advising on Farm Business Tenancies, Agricultural Holdings Act matters, grazing licences, agricultural property transactions, development agreements (including options, easements and overage), and lender security and funding arrangements.
Ideal Candidate
  • You will be a solicitor with 3+ years' PQE and solid experience in agricultural law, confident managing complex and varied matters with minimal supervision.
  • You will have a strong understanding of rural and farming clients, excellent client care skills, and the ability to build long-term relationships that generate repeat work.
  • The ideal candidate will be organised, commercially aware, and comfortable supporting marketing and business development activity within the rural community. A proactive approach to professional development, compliance, and collaboration is essential.
Benefits
  • This role offers the chance to join a well-established and respected Yorkshire firm with deep roots in the local community and a genuinely supportive culture.
  • Benefits include a bonus scheme, enhanced annual leave, funded and structured professional development, health and wellbeing initiatives, and access to legal services.
  • Additional benefits include long-service awards, a Cycle to Work scheme, and regular team and wellbeing events.
  • The firm places a strong emphasis on values, integrity, and approachability, offering a long-term career opportunity for solicitors looking to build a reputation within North Yorkshire's rural and agricultural market.
