Posted 16 days 10 hours ago by PT group
We're growing our Social Housing practice in Birmingham and are looking for a Solicitor (0-3 PQE) to join our expanding team, working closely with our recently appointed Partner, Bukola Obadun-Craigs.
This is a standout opportunity to be part of a developing offering within our wider Healthcare team, a well established, highly respected national practice. You'll play a meaningful role from day one, advising Registered Providers on a broad mix of contentious and advisory housing management matters, while building your own profile in a supportive and ambitious environment.
The work
You'll handle a varied and high quality caseload, with exposure to both litigation and advisory work. This will include:
- Managing possession proceedings, including cases involving anti social behaviour, rent arrears, subletting, failed succession and trespass
- Securing injunctions, including breach of tenancy injunctions, emergency ASB orders and access injunctions relating to safety compliance
- Supporting on housing conditions and disrepair claims, including defending counterclaims and working within the pre action protocol
- Advising clients on complex tenancy management issues, from succession and assignment through to relationship breakdowns and matters involving mental capacity
- Working with key statutory frameworks, including the Housing Acts, Equality Act 2010 and Human Rights Act, applying them in a practical, client focused way
- Assisting with the development of policies, tenancy documentation and operational guidance for Registered Providers
You will also have the opportunity to develop your advocacy skills, handling routine hearings and applications in the County Court.
About YouWhat we're looking for
We're looking for someone early in their legal career who is keen to build a specialism in social housing and develop quickly within a collaborative team.
You'll bring:
- Experience (or strong exposure) to housing litigation or a related area
- Confidence communicating complex legal issues in a clear, practical way to clients
- A proactive, organised approach to managing your own caseload
- An interest in advocacy and developing your court experience
Just as importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working as part of a team and contributing to a positive, collegiate culture.
