Google Arts and Culture was launched in 2011 to support digital innovation in cultural access and preservation around the world. Team's key effort is to build a platform for institutions to bring their content online in a way that is easily accessible to broad audiences. We combine tools and services designed to help institutions digitize existing materials in physical collections then store and share them online, creating new and innovative user experiences bringing our expertise in new technologies and storytelling.

This role supports creative coders and artists in residence, ensuring the stability, security, and launch readiness of public facing experiments utilizing external models like Gemini and internal models. This is a fast paced role, with a very varied set of demands, connecting the external world and the internal process.

Responsibilities
  • Write product or system development code. Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Prepare experiments for launch via configuration management. Implement and maintain endpoints to proxy internal GenAI services. Help prevent and address security vulnerabilities, assist in implementing mitigation measures. Rebuild and redeploy existing experiments, update them to new runtimes, APIs, ML models etc.
