About the role

Kinsmen Group are looking for a talented and driven Development Manager, to take the reins of our critical software development function, building the right team for our future ambitious plans!

We are seeking someone with a proven track record in leading development teams, who thrives on shaping teams, setting and raising standards, and driving technical excellence.

You will own the code architecture and development standards, and will be comfortable challenging the status quo in your drive to do the right thing, the right way, the achieve a high quality outcome.

The ideal candidate will thrive on setting the course and excel at keeping up to date with emerging technologies and techniques to keep our evolving product at the front of the market.

What you'll do

  • Technical Leadership
  • Oversee code architecture and stay up to date with ever changing technologies and methodologies.
  • Set and maintain high code standards and mentor the engineering team.
  • Integrate Azure AI and OpenAI services, following best practices and ethical standards, using the best-for-purpose models while maintaining a robust model testing process.
  • People & Process
  • Build, onboard, and retain a skilled team (3-5 FTEs) alongside external resources.
  • Partner with Product team on delivery cycles and sprint planning.
  • Work closely with Information Services & Technology team on security and platform requirements.
  • Embed quality and security into all development phases.
  • Delivery Management
  • Manage delivery roadmap and sprint goals.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and SCRUM.
  • Support Transition to In-House Development
  • Lead the move from outsourced development to a skilled in-house model.
  • Onboard new hires, clarify roles, and streamline knowledge transfer.
  • Maintain relationships with external contractors to support core capability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Liaise with Product, Quality, and Platform and Security teams, to align priorities and communicate risks.
  • Performance & Development
  • Implement ongoing feedback and reviews.
  • Set goals for skill growth and retention.
  • Own and evolve team processes-code review, branching, documentation.
  • Transition Metrics
  • Track onboarding rates and reduction of vendor reliance.
  • Measure growth of internal knowledge and team performance.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10+ years in professional software development (4+ years management).
  • Track record with multi-tenant SaaS platforms on Azure.
  • Experience of Microsoft Graph, and SharePoint APIs.
  • Experience deploying AI/machine learning services in production.
  • Advanced CI/CD, Git workflows, testing methodologies.

Preferred:

  • Azure Solutions Architect or similar.
  • Vector database and retrieval-augmented generation experience.
  • Experience of a DevSecOps approach, putting security at the forefront.
  • Knowledge of engineering document management concepts (ECM/PLM/EDMS).
