Software Development Engineer III, Device Privacy And Data Handling

The Cerulean team spearheads Amazon's mission to become the world's most trusted provider of device and cloud services through innovative privacy-focused solutions. The team develops foundational privacy technologies that seamlessly integrate into customer experiences while ensuring complete data control and protection. Working at the intersection of privacy and user experience, the team enables developers across Amazon to implement robust privacy features without compromising functionality.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Architect and deliver complex software systems that align with Amazon's engineering standards and business objectives.
  2. Drive technical decisions and design reviews that impact multiple services or teams within the organization.
  3. Lead development of critical features while mentoring junior engineers in technical best practices and engineering principles.
  4. Establish and maintain robust monitoring, metrics, and operational excellence practices for high-availability systems.
  5. Define and enforce code quality standards, testing strategies, and documentation requirements across projects.
  6. Proactively identify and resolve complex technical challenges while implementing preventive measures.
  7. Design and implement privacy-preserving features that protect customer data without compromising system functionality.
  8. Participate in building high-performing teams through technical interviews and making data-driven hiring recommendations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
