Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity as a Social Worker Adults Review Lead - Mental Health with Manchester City Council (GM Collaboration), situated at the Town Hall Extension, Albert Square, Manchester. This temporary role is a rare chance to play a pivotal part in shaping the future of mental health social care in Manchester. You'll be working on a major Transformation Programme in the lead up to the planned transfer of Mental Health Social Workers into the Local Authority. Commencing on 23/03/2026 and ending on 31/08/2026, this role is perfect for Social Workers looking for a fresh challenge, offering £32 per hour for a standard 7 hour day, 5 days per week.

What you will do
  • Collaborate closely with the Performance and Governance Manager to ensure quality assurance on commissioning decisions.
  • Lead efforts to reduce service delays and improve access to necessary care and support for individuals, specifically in supported living and under Section 117 of the Mental Health Act.
  • Support the development of recovery focused methods and innovative practices in mental health service delivery.
  • Work with housing providers and commissioning colleagues to enhance service delivery frameworks.
  • Leverage strong knowledge of the Care Act to conduct statutory reviews and work seamlessly with brokerage teams.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Profound understanding of the Care Act and experience in conducting statutory reviews.
  • Experience working with brokerage teams and commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with relevant legal processes and a background in mental health social care.
  • Management experience desirable, along with an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) background.
