An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term position within the Child &Family Help team within the Royal Borough of Kingston. As part of the new model, we will be piloting new ways of working and would welcome any applicants keen for a challenge.

The candidate must be a qualified social worker to apply for this position.

This role is part of the transformation process that includes recent publication of policies linked to 'Stable Homes Built on Love' and the Care Review 2022. As a qualified Team Leader you will also support the future development of Early Help Staff in the future model of delivery as part of the ongoing Early Help Consultation.

This role includes:

  • Chairing Strategy discussion (open cases)
  • Attending Initial Child Protection Conference Review and Child In Need, Planning and Review meetings.
  • The team works on a range of legal options to support investigation and protection and accommodation and if required we will provide evidence in court and we will consider using contingency planning to anticipate complexity and changing circumstances.
  • Overseeing the management of operational workers including providing timely supervision.

We are looking for the right candidate who either has prior experience of management or who has significant statutory experience and looking to take that next step in their career development.

As a Social Worker Team Leader, you will be:

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field i.e. social work, leadership and management.
  • Active Social Work England registration and proven evidence of continuing professional
    development.
  • Significant social work practice and experience of working on safeguarding cases, some of which are complex, including preparing for and presenting evidence in court.
  • Experience of managing case workers who deliver social work with children, young people and their parents/families with safeguarding issues.
  • Experience of managing people, performance and professional development to get the best out of the team.
  • Experience of permanency planning and supporting practitioners to ensure thorough and thoughtful care planning for children.
