Site Supervisor (Arboriculture / Tree Surgery)

Location: Various Regional Sites (Day & Night Shifts Required)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Reporting to: Tree Surgery Director
Salary: €57,500 per annum

Role Objective

ISS Recruitment is partnering with a leading client in the arboricultural sector to recruit a Site Supervisor responsible for managing work sites, coordinating crews, and acting as the primary on-site client representative.

This is a key leadership role ensuring safe, efficient delivery of tree surgery operations while maintaining high standards of communication, safety, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work Planning & Preparation
  • Plan daily work site requirements, including equipment and resources
  • Attend yard to equip and prepare company vehicles and machinery
  • Communicate operational requirements to yard contacts and drivers, Site Operations & Tree Work
  • Carry out tree climbing and ground support work as required
  • Operate specialist equipment including MEWP, woodchippers, stump grinders, and polesaws
  • Drive company vehicles as part of operational duties
Site Management
  • Set up and maintain safe work zones in line with company procedures
  • Assign and supervise tasks across the team
  • Review RAMS and update Prowork Risk Assessments at the start of each shift
  • Deliver daily safety briefings/toolbox talks
  • Act as mentor and coach to new staff and apprentices
Health & Safety
  • Take responsibility for full site safety and ensure adherence to safe systems of work
  • Review and contribute to RAMS documentation
  • Record and report incidents, accidents, and near misses in line with procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all company and statutory safety requirements
Communication & Reporting
  • Act as main on-site point of contact for clients and third parties
  • Provide daily, weekly, or as-required progress updates to office/management
  • Report staff attendance issues including lateness, absence, and sickness
  • Communicate team performance, training needs, and operational issues to management
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in arboriculture, forestry, or a similar outdoor supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of site safety procedures and RAMS
  • Experience operating arboricultural machinery and equipment
  • Full clean driving licence essential
  • Ability to work effectively in both daytime and nighttime shifts (regional travel required)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Good command of English (written and verbal)
  • Ability to enforce safety standards and lead by example
