Site Lead Nuclear Medicine (Wythenshawe)

We are seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking and talented person to join our Nuclear Medicine team in Wythenshawe Hospital, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). This is an exciting opportunity for a technologist or radiographer wanting to expand their horizons and branch out into a leadership role.
You will join our friendly, collaborative and multidisciplinary team, providing a service to referrers from across the region. The role demands experience of a wide range of Nuclear Medicine procedures with a desire to manage and develop an existing service. You should have an awareness and aptitude for excellent patient focused care.
You will lead a team of radiographers and technologists at the Wythenshawe site, while interacting closely with counterparts at North Manchester and the Oxford Road campus to ensure an efficient and effective service is delivered to all our patients across Greater Manchester.

Main duties of the jobYou will work closely with the other Nuclear Medicine site leads within the trust, the clinical lead and the Nuclear Medicine team lead to provide a safe, efficient and effective Nuclear Medicine service on the Wythenshawe site.
Working as part of the team at Wythenshawe and acting as their line manager you will ensure equipment is utilised fully and that patients are scanned in a timely manner in accordance with their urgency. Reporting issues to the cross site senior team and engaging in matters such as cross site harmonisation of imaging protocols.
You will lead on the implementation of new practices and procedures on the Wythenshawe site, suggesting changes to practice where necessary and ensuring that the work produced by the Wythenshawe site is of excellent quality.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they can lead and manage a team to bring about a high quality service and to implement changes for service improvement in a timely and well organised manner.

Person Specification Qualifications- Degree or equivalent in relevant subject
- Further qualification to Post grad level in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent experience in advanced Nuclear Medicine
- Registration (HCPC or RCT)
- Substantial experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist/Radiographer with full training.
- Experience of working in a supervisory role
- Experience of working in the NHS
- Experience of line management/appraisal
- Ability to manage and lead a small team to provide a caring and compassionate service.
- Ability to manage the workflow of a small department to utilise resources as efficiently as possible.
- Ability to work carefully and efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Concern for the wellbeing of colleagues and direct reports.
- Concern for the wellbeing of patients and a commitment to work for the aims of the department and the institution.
- Ability to communicate with different colleagues and the public
- Able to work calmly and efficiently in a busy environment
- Knowledge of a full range of Nuclear Medicine procedures with technical competence.
- Understanding of the principles of Nuclear Medicine technology and or radiation protection.
- Previous experience of performing appraisal and setting objectives for personal development plans.
- Evidence of implementing a new work practice within an imaging department
- Ability to concentrate on the detail of diagnostic procedures whilst coping with interruptions arising from a complex and unpredictable workload.
- Highly developed manipulative skills to ensure accuracy, speed and precision.
- Ability to manage own work and the work of others and to plan ahead to ensure the needs of the service will be consistently met.
