Field Installation Engineer (Refrigeration)

Location: Northamptonshire / Swindon Area
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per year DOE
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Weekend and overnight work may be required depending on installation schedules.

Quest Employment is recruiting for an experienced Field Installation Engineer to join a growing and innovative business specialising in refrigerated display systems for major retail environments across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands on engineer with installation, construction, refrigeration, or electrical experience who enjoys travelling, problem solving, and working on customer sites nationwide.

The Role

As a Field Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery, installation, assembly, and customisation of refrigerated display equipment at customer locations across the UK.

The role combines site based installation work with workshop and warehouse based assembly duties during quieter installation periods.

Candidates should be comfortable travelling regularly and staying away from home when required, typically averaging 1-2 nights per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering and installing refrigerated display equipment on customer sites

• Loading and unloading equipment safely using forklifts and manual handling techniques

• Assembling and configuring display units to specification

• Fitting trims, accessories, and peripheral components

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical instructions

• Identifying and resolving on site technical or quality issues

• Completing installation records and documentation accurately

• Supporting snagging work, service visits, and additional deliveries

• Assisting with workshop assembly and operational projects when required

• Maintaining Health & Safety standards at all times

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' experience within installation, engineering, construction, refrigeration, or similar hands on environments
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away overnight when required
• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties
• Flexible approach to working hours and occasional weekend work

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

• Category C1 Licence and CPC qualification
• Refrigeration or electrical background
• Forklift licence
• CITB Site Safety qualification
• Training in:

  • First Aid
