Job Description

Urban is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join the site management team at the commencement of one of our apartment construction projects in Dublin. Under the direction of the Senior Engineer, your primary responsibility will be providing the required setting out and dimensional controls on site, from the project outset to completion of the final stages, along with carrying out quality inspections.

The role also offers a pathway to a senior role within our site and project management structure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting out control points, datums and gridlines for our key subcontract packages i.e.: groundworks, concrete frame, windows, SFS and brickwork
  • Checking the setting-out of our subcontractors site engineers and compiling as-built records
  • Quality Inspections of workmanship and materials i.e.: Rebar Inspection (Pre-Pour Checks); Drainage & Utilities Layout; brickwork and cavity wall construction; roads and paving etc
  • Oversight of on-site materials testing by our subcontractors and maintaining the required trackers to ensure compliance with the project specifications
  • Assisting the Senior Engineer with RFIs and technical submittals, and overseeing the closeout of BCAR observations and technical documentation
  • Maintaining a site diary with relevant information as agreed with the Senior Engineer
Qualification

Degree / Diploma in Engineering / Surveying / Construction Management (or related discipline)

3+ yrs experience - preferably in a main contractor environment (apartments a plus)

  • Proven ability to manage layout accuracy of the works, quality of the works inspections
  • Proficiency in the use of Setting-out & Surveying equipment (i.e.: Trimble / Leica - Total Station & GNSS), and a working knowledge of data transfer from AutoCAD.
  • Ability to interpret Reinforcement Drawings & Bar Schedules.
  • Good understanding of Construction Workflow and subcontract works sequencing
  • Good communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic team environment
  • Team player able to engage in a productive manner with subcontractors and direct labour
  • Comfortable working in a busy, energetic environment; strong work ethic
  • Self-starter able to work to his/her own initiative
