Job Description
About Us

Prodigi is the leading global print-on-demand platform, enabling businesses to scale their operations through streamlined supply chains and maximised profits. Founded in 2014, we ranked 14th on the Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 list of the UK's fastest-growing companies.

With a worldwide network of over 100+ production facilities across multiple countries, including our four of own production facilities in the UK, USA & EU, we support creators, enterprises and increasingly AI-driven agents who expect a system that can take any image, turn it into any product, and fulfil it anywhere in the world.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced e-commerce engineer to lead the development of our retail Shopify sites, transforming them into high-performing sales engines. This is not a traditional marketing or retail management role. We need someone technical who builds things, knows what to build, and uses AI relentlessly to work faster and smarter.

The ideal candidate has built and scaled their own Shopify stores, understands the full stack from Liquid templates to conversion optimisation, and has the marketing instincts to know which features will actually move the needle. You'll sit within our engineering organisation but operate with significant autonomy, owning the retail channel end-to-end.

You'll be taking on existing retail properties that we've built in-house and helping maximise their potential, as well as creating new stores where opportunities arise. This isn't a cold start - you'll have access to the engineers and team members who built these sites, and the support of a wider engineering and marketing functions as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shopify Development: Own the technical development of our Shopify retail sites, including theme customisation, Liquid templating, app integrations, and custom functionality

  • Conversion Optimisation: Continuously improve site performance, page speed, checkout flows, and user experience to maximise conversion rates

  • SEO & GEO: Implement and maintain technical SEO best practices, structured data, and generative engine optimisation strategies to drive organic traffic

  • AI-Augmented Development: Use AI tools extensively to accelerate development, automate repetitive tasks, generate content, and experiment rapidly

  • Product & Merchandising Strategy: Make informed decisions about what to build, which features to prioritise, and how to present products effectively

  • Analytics & Experimentation: Set up tracking, analyse performance data, run A/B tests, and make data-driven decisions

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, customer service, and production teams to ensure the retail experience aligns with operational capabilities

What We're Looking For
  • Demonstrable experience building and scaling Shopify stores, ideally including something you've built yourself

  • Strong technical skills: comfortable with Liquid, JavaScript, CSS, and Shopify's APIs and ecosystem

  • Genuine obsession with AI tools and a track record of using them to work more efficiently

  • Marketing instincts: you understand what drives conversions, not just how to implement features

  • Solid understanding of SEO principles, technical SEO, and emerging GEO strategies

  • Experience with analytics tools (GA4, Shopify Analytics) and A/B testing

  • Self-directed and comfortable owning a channel end-to-end without constant supervision

This Role Is Not
  • A pure marketing role managing agencies and campaigns

  • A Head of Retail position focused on strategy and team management

  • A project management role coordinating external developers

  • A traditional web developer role waiting to be told what to build

What Success Looks Like
  • Our retail sites become genuine revenue engines with measurable improvements in traffic, conversion, and revenue

  • You ship improvements rapidly and iterate based on data, not assumptions

  • AI tools are embedded in your workflow, making you significantly more productive than a traditional developer

  • You proactively identify opportunities and implement solutions without waiting for direction

  • The retail channel operates with minimal management overhead, with you as the expert and owner

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
  • 25 days holiday per year, plus one additional day off for your birthday
  • Company pension scheme (4% employer contribution, 5% employee contribution)
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Spec your own development machine
  • A charity day per year to volunteer at a recognised charity
  • The opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-growing business at the forefront of the print-on-demand industry
Location
  • This role is fully remote, with the team distributed across the UK and three international timezones. However we do have engineering hubs in Cardiff and Harrogate so local proximity to one of these would be highly advantageous.
