Shop Supervisor - South Elmsall

To maximise profit to support the operation of the Hospice and to ensure that opportunities are taken to promote awareness of the Hospice cause and philosophy.
To deputise for the Shop Manager and to assist the Shop Manager to maximise income from sales, control direct shop expenses, motivate the shop team, and ensure compliance with all Hospice retail procedures and relevant legislation.
Main duties of the jobAs Shop Supervisor, you'll support the Shop Manager in running the day-to-day operations of the South Elmsall shop. You'll be key in driving sales, delivering excellent customer service, and leading a team of dedicated volunteers. When deputising for the Shop Manager, you'll confidently take charge to ensure the shop runs smoothly and profitably.
- Have retail experience, ideally in a supervisory role
- Have excellent customer service and communication skills
- Be able to organise, prioritise and work to sales targets
- Process donated stock efficiently and maintain high merchandising standards
- Be flexible, positive and have a proactive approach to team leadership
- Recruit, train and support volunteers
At The Prince of Wales Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care in a supportive and respectful environment. Our 14-bed inpatient unit, located just minutes from Junction 32 of the M62 in Pontefract, also offers outpatient and community services, including a successful Lymphoedema clinic.

Hours: 15 hours per week (including some weekend working)

Person Specification Experience & Skills- Understanding of current, relevant retail legislation
- Excellent display and merchandising and stock management skills
- Well developed supervisory and motivational skills
- Experience of supervising a retail store/unit
- Experience of working with volunteers
- Ability to safely undertake manual handling operations
- Good standard of education with excellent numeracy and literacy skills
- Willingness to undertake relevant training
- Able to prioritise and organise workload under pressure and with conflicting priorities
- Commercial awareness and judgement
- Able to work in a target driven environment, with a proven track record of meeting sales targets
- Able to respect confidentiality
- Current clean driving licence and use of own vehicle to travel to other shops/training/meetings
- Willingness to work in other Prince of Wales Hospice shops
- Flexible approach to working hours and working week
- Have access to a mobile phone
