Shop Manager North Berwick

Overview

Our prestigious client in North Berwick is seeking a Shop Manager for their book store. This temporary role (2-3 months, with possible extension) involves managing the day-to-day operations of the book shop and leading the team. The position is 37.5 hours per week and may require some weekend work, with a 10% uplift for weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the book shop and the team to ensure the shop operates effectively and maximizes trading potential.
• Communicate and foster good working relations with the company regarding deliveries and customers.
• Operate and develop a profitable store.
• Raise awareness of the organization, its brand and services in the local community.
• Work with part-time staff and volunteers to achieve agreed sales targets. Provide line management assistance for the part-time team and manage minor disciplinary/behavioral issues as they arise.
• Ensure items are correctly and competitively priced and attractively displayed.
• Ensure volunteers and part-time staff are trained in manual handling and aspects of the health and safety policy.
• Maintain a consistently high level of customer service for customers and donors.
• Investigate avenues for maximizing the sale of goods.
• Responsible for end-of-day cashing up and banking.
• Authorized signatory for petty cash amounts.
• Till work and cash handling.

Experience / Qualifications

• Experience of managing a team.
• Previous retail experience; charity sector experience is a bonus.
• Cash handling experience.
• Experience in a customer service environment.
• Responsible attitude.
• Flexible approach to work.
• Good organizational skills.

Key Information and Benefits

£14.50 per hour.
