The role

As a Shiplift Operations Engineer within our Shiplift Facility, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you'll be key to the business.

You will work in collaboration with the Shiplift Facility Manager, as well as MoD Customer (Internal & External) as required to deliver the required outputs.

Please note that the role holder must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

Day to day, as the Facility Operations Engineer you will ensure delivery of the planned operations of the Shiplift to meet safety, quality, cost and performance and targets.

  • Lead, motivate all operations and maintenance staff to deliver against our required outputs
  • Directly manage a team of Operations specialists and indirectly a number of Multi Skilled Operatives
  • Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity and safety in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
  • Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes in accordance with Clyde policies.

Essential experience of the Shiplift Operations Engineer

  • Proven experience of the delivery of multi disciplinary engineering operations or maintenance programmes, ideally mechanically and electrically dual qualified, or experience of leading multi discipline engineering or maintenance teams
  • Knowledge of business processes (HR, Finance Commercial)
  • Demonstrable leadership skills gained within a management or supervisory role

36 hours per week, Mon - Thurs with a 3 day weekend, based onsite at HMNB Clyde

Qualifications for the Shiplift Operations Engineering

  • Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline, or qualified to HND level or equivalent in a engineering subject with relevant work experience
  • ILM or similar management certification would be beneficial, but not essential if able to demonstrate proven management experience within a operations focused role

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance level for this role
