Shift Mechanical Engineer

A global manufacturing business is seeking a 100% mechanically biased Shift Mechanical Engineer to join their production engineering team. This is a hands-on maintenance role supporting high-speed manufacturing and packaging operations in a fast-paced environment.

This role is ideal for a practical, technically strong mechanical engineer who enjoys fault finding, machine repair, and supporting production reliability.

The Role

Working on a Panama shift pattern, you will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across automated production equipment.

You will play a key role in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance across production and manufacturing equipment

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on automated, high-speed machinery

  • Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes

  • Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimise production disruption

  • Carry out strip-down, rebuild and component replacement work

  • Support reliability and process improvement activities

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

  • Work in line with site safety and quality standards

About You

We are looking for a strong, hands-on mechanical engineer with experience working in production or manufacturing environments.

Essential
  • Strong mechanical engineering background (fully mechanical bias)

  • Experience working in manufacturing, FMCG or high-volume production environments

  • Proven mechanical fault-finding skills

  • Experience with planned and reactive maintenance

  • Comfortable working shift patterns

Desirable
  • Experience with automated production machinery

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical drive systems

  • Continuous improvement or reliability exposure

Personal Attributes
  • Practical and technically confident

  • Strong problem solver

  • Able to work under production pressure

  • Team-focused with good communication skills
