Job Description

Job Description: Schedule Lead/Scheduler - Open to both contractor or perm applications.

Our client is seeking an experienced Schedule Lead/Scheduler to join their Infrastructure Delivery team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven scheduling professional to lead, influence, and help shape the planning and delivery of complex, large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, support and mentor a team of schedulers, embedding best practice and driving consistency in programme controls.
  • Develop individual project Gantt charts and detailed schedules from first principles in Primavera P6, ensuring accurate identification of tasks, activities, dependencies and milestones.
  • Build, maintain and update the Master Programme Schedule, consolidating inputs from multiple projects to provide a clear and reliable programme-wide view.
  • Co-ordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors and wider stakeholders to establish realistic durations, identify the critical path, and ensure dependencies are accurately reflected.
  • Facilitate schedule workshops and cross-project meetings, engaging design consultants, contractors and project teams to align expectations, optimise sequencing and improve predictability.
  • Review, analyse and validate contractor schedules during live projects and tender evaluations, ensuring risks, delays and scope changes are highlighted and proactively managed.
  • Apply leads, lags, float and contingency allowances appropriately, supporting robust programme planning and early risk identification.
  • Work alongside cost and risk teams to produce integrated cost- and resource-loaded schedules that enable accurate forecasting and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor and report on progress through Earned Value Analysis and other performance measures, producing regular updates and ad-hoc reports for project leadership.
  • Support pre-construction planning, budget generation and operational readiness by providing schedule insights across the full project life cycle.
  • Identify and propose corrective actions when deviations from baseline schedules occur, driving transparency and accountability.
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable scheduling processes, influencing contractors and stakeholders while building a culture of proactive schedule management.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Construction Management or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience in complex, multi-disciplinary project scheduling.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring teams.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage critical path schedules from first principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Experience in large capital programmes, pre-construction planning, and contract schedule review.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and motivated, with the ability to prioritise and deliver under pressure.

Why This Role?

This is a unique chance to play a pivotal role in delivering transformative projects, while driving best practice in scheduling and programme controls. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, forward-thinking environment that values innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
