Overview

Circa £27,565 plus standby payments plus business use of company van. Permanent, 37 hours, full time. Covering Basildon, Southend, Billericay and the surrounding areas.

Role

Sewer Technician in Water Recycling Services, safeguarding the environment and public health and maintaining critical infrastructure. You will handle network issues such as blockages, odours, flooding and incidents, and deliver exceptional service while adhering to environmental regulatory standards. As part of our standby roster, you may undertake out-of-hours work to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. Safety is paramount, and you will uphold health and safety protocols diligently. Responsibilities
  • Operate a single-person, high-pressure water jetting unit (training provided) and assist with CCTV equipment; identify and promote repair work on the sewerage network.
  • Investigate sewerage issues and provide first-time resolutions for customers.
  • Respond to incidents and complete planned maintenance work.
  • Accurately collate and record feedback from site using IT systems.
  • Work predominantly solo while engaging with internal and external customers daily.
What it takes to be a Drainage Operative
  • Experience or willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and use initiative.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Full driving license; having a 4.5 tonne license is advantageous (training provided if needed).
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at height; weight limit up to 113 kilograms; willingness to complete relevant occupational health checks including Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV).
