Service Director Planning & Environment (Full Time)

Overview

Buckinghamshire Council is shaping the future of our county through bold planning, environmental leadership and sustainable growth.

We're now seeking a visionary leader to drive our Planning & Environment services forward. As our Service Director, you'll lead on major initiatives including our first Local Plan as a unitary council, the delivery of Aylesbury Garden Town, and our ambitious Climate Change Strategy. You'll also oversee regeneration schemes and play a key role in some of the UK's biggest infrastructure projects - from Pinewood Studios to Westcott Venture Park.

This is a high-profile role with real impact. You'll join the dots between planning, environment and prosperity, helping to create places that are sustainable, futureproofed and thriving.

Responsibilities

• Lead on major planning and environmental initiatives, including the Local Plan for a unitary council, the delivery of Aylesbury Garden Town, and the Climate Change Strategy.
• Oversee regeneration schemes and contribute to large infrastructure projects.
• Shape and integrate planning, environment and prosperity priorities to create sustainable and thriving places.
• Collaborate with Corporate Directors and other stakeholders to drive strategic outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience in senior planning, environment or growth leadership roles.
• Track record of delivering complex, high-profile programmes and infrastructure projects.
• Strong strategic and stakeholder engagement skills.
