Service and Maintenance Engineer

We are recruiting for a Service and Maintenance Engineer here at Rayner! You will work collaboratively with a team of Process Engineers, Team Leaders and Engineering Technicians to provide support to existing manufacturing units and new technology implementation. With the team's support, you will carry out Electrical, Mechanical, Service and Maintenance tasks to help ensure the business's production flow stays on target and to maintain equipment reliability, minimising downtime. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem solving skills and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team, all within a goal orientated, fast paced and potentially high-pressure environment.
This role operates on a 12 hour shift on a 4 days on / 4 days off shift pattern.
What You'll Be DoingAlways ensure maintenance of regulatory compliance.
Carry out all duties in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and procedures. Report near misses and safety observations to contribute to ongoing Health and Safety improvements
Perform routine maintenance and inspection activities in accordance with Rayner's PPM philosophy.Plan and manage both in-house and third-party preventative maintenance activities.
Co-ordinate with third-party suppliers to ensure maintenance activities are executed correctly and efficiently.
Assist the S&ME manager in managing service provider contracts including arranging and supervising contractor attendance, planned servicing and unplanned works.
Carry out emergency fault finding and repairs of Production equipment to minimise downtime and Production disruption, this will include addressing issues that affect Production yield and efficiency. A broad range of equipment will be in scope.
Support the S&ME manager in managing the spare parts inventory, ensuring organisation and restocking.
Update and maintain the maintenance database in accordance with company procedures. Regularly review and report on equipment maintenance.
Draft and complete day to day Work Orders and maintain department KPI's.
Utilise Root Cause Analysis methods to troubleshoot production issues and increase equipment reliability, process capability and product quality.
Evaluate existing manufacturing equipment by gathering observations from operators, liaising with equipment vendors, and applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
Collaborate with all departments to minimise downtime and disruption to production flow
Consult with management on identified needs and the implementation of repair projects.
Contribute to existing installations to enhance processes.
Maintain a high standard of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational training/workshops.
Undertake other duties appropriate to the level and character of the work as may reasonably be required by the Company, including occasional emergency out-of-hours support if the company deems it necessary.
Has a hands-on approach to problem solving and has a strong focus on continuous equipment reliability.

Ability to read, interpret and understand technical drawings and schematics.

Competent IT user with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Able to communicate with a range of people from different backgrounds and corporate levels both verbally and in writing
Competent in collecting and analysing data
Essential
- Minimum 3 years' experience working with manufacturing equipment in a GMP environment
- Solid practical knowledge of equipment maintenance and servicing.
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical and mechanical standards and regulations.
- Experience of relevant Health and Safety Regulations.
- Experience of work order management systems.
- Experience of preparing work schedules/plans.
Desirable
- BTEC/HNC/HND/BEng/MEng Engineering degree or equivalent appropriate qualification/experience working in Healthcare/Pharma/Medical Devices industry.
- A working awareness of medical device regulations and the medical device directive (ISO13485, FDA QSR 21, CFR 820 etc.)
- Valid driving licence
- The ability to travel is an advantage if required.
