Job title: Senior/Principal Platform Systems Mechanical Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. This position will require a full-time presence on-site
Responsibilities- Developing the package of design evidence required to justify a safe, effective design and generate customer confidence in the design solution
- Specifying and assisting in the build of prototypes, products and systems suitable for testing
- Providing timely corrective actions on all assigned defects and issues
- Ensuring that commitments are agreed, reviewed and met
- Mentoring junior engineers regarding technical matters
- Making presentations effectively to technical and management audiences and keeping abreast of novel technical concepts and markets
- Author/co-author technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations as required
- Educated to degree level in Engineering, Mechanical or Science subjects
- Ability to design documentation with the ability to present these to customers and wider groups
- Ability to solve complex engineering calculations
- Proficient in CAD, MS Office and comfortable with other IT applications
The Mechanical Platform Systems team: Being part of a team, you will have a great opportunity to be involved in the planning and reactive support to ensure that the engineering aspects of testing and commissioning activities are undertaken in a safe and appropriate way whilst ensuring design intent are maintained.
