Job Description

A rare opportunity for a senior Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) leader to build and lead a brand-new MSAT function within a global pharmaceutical organisation.

Reporting directly to the VP of Technical Operations, you will define the MSAT strategy, build a high-performing technical organisation and establish the critical bridge between Pharmaceutical Development and Commercial Manufacturing. This is a highly visible leadership role offering the opportunity to shape how future products are developed, commercialised and continuously improved across a global manufacturing network. Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and lead a new Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) function.
  • Build the technical bridge between Pharmaceutical Development and Commercial Manufacturing.
  • Lead technology transfer, PPQ, process validation, scale-up and commercialisation activities.
  • Develop process science, technical standards and lifecycle management strategies.
  • Drive process optimisation, manufacturing robustness and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement data-driven process monitoring and technical performance metrics.
  • Partner with Development, Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory to support successful product launches and lifecycle management.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing technical team while influencing key stakeholders across the organisation.
Requirements Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related scientific discipline. 15+ years' experience within Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT), Technical Operations, Process Development or Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. Proven experience building or transforming an MSAT or Technical Operations function within a pharmaceutical environment. Significant experience supporting commercial products across internal manufacturing sites and external manufacturing partners (CMOs/CDMOs). Demonstrated success leading technology transfer, process validation, PPQ, scale-up and commercialisation programmes. Proven ability to bridge Pharmaceutical Development and Commercial Manufacturing, supporting products throughout their lifecycle. Deep understanding of oral solid dose manufacturing, process science, control strategies, cGMP, ICH guidelines and global regulatory requirements. Experience leading high-performing technical teams and influencing senior cross-functional stakeholders within complex global organisations. Strategic leadership capability with the ability to develop technical strategy while remaining hands-on in execution. Experience in Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and developing technical business cases is highly advantageous. The Next Step for You
