Notes for this Senior Wastewater Project Design Lead role:

A Senior/Principal level engineer capable to work independently and with hands on experience in the design and upgrading of Wastewater treatment works. Designs to take account of refurb and maintenance also design of new plants and/or upgrading of the treatment plants due to population growth and new Regulations (eg IED requirements) or enforcing Final Enforcement Orders (FEOs).

A well-established business is looking for a Senior Wastewater Project Design Lead to be pivotal in managing the technical input for projects, coordinating and uniting contributions from multiple engineering disciplines, and leading a cross-functional team. Your responsibility will be to ensure that all aspects of the project are aligned, focusing on delivering the right technical solution that meets business objectives and requirements.

As Senior Wastewater Project Design Lead, your responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, including CDM regulations.
• Developing and maintaining health and safety strategies and risk assessments.
• Promoting sustainable solutions and ensure the team follows health and safety practices.
• Leading design teams to deliver cost-effective, long-term solutions
• Overseeing quality, cost, and timelines, ensuring adherence to technical standards.
• Coordinating resources, managing suppliers and contractors.
• Driving efficiency, focusing on standardisation and innovative approaches.
• Challenging existing practices and adopting industry best practices for continuous improvement.
• Promoting digital concepts and collaborating with supply chain partners to improve efficiency.
• Ensuring the delivery of cost-effective solutions that meet budgets.
• Working with colleagues to manage financial performance and provide cost forecasts.
• Influencing stakeholders to ensure cost-effective design plans.
• Ensuring design programmes are realistic and monitoring progress to meet deadlines.
• Identifying delays early and effectively managing timelines.
• Ensuring designs meet customer and regulatory expectations.
• Representing the company at conferences and events, promoting the company's work through presentations and papers.

What we're looking for in a Senior Wastewater Project Design Lead:

• MEng/BEng/BSc or HND/HNC in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Membership of an appropriate professional institute (Chartered or working towards).
• Knowledge of project management, H&S standards and Engineering within the Water Industry
• Project Management Experience
