Job Description

Role Title: Senior VAT Compliance Analyst (Level 5)
Location: London 5 days onsite
Contract: 6 months (ASAP start, potential extension)
Pay Rate: £328.80 - £365.36/day (PAYE)
Working Hours: 40h per week
Max Notice Period: 2 weeks

Role Overview

Client is seeking an experienced Senior VAT Analyst to join its International Indirect Tax Compliance team. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing EMEA VAT returns (France, Italy, Spain, Sweden), Intrastat & ECSL filings, supporting audits, and helping onboard new entities into VAT compliance processes.

This is a hands-on role where you will collaborate with finance, accounting, and tech teams to streamline processes, automate tasks, and improve VAT compliance controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit VAT returns (FR, IT, ES, SE).

  • Prepare Intrastat and ECSL returns.

  • Manage VAT registrations across jurisdictions.

  • Provide VAT compliance support across EMEA businesses.

  • Perform month-end VAT reconciliations and resolve aged items.

  • Support internal/external audits with data analysis.

  • Map and improve VAT processes, support automation projects.

  • Assist with onboarding new entities into VAT compliance systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in VAT advisory or compliance (EMEA focus preferred).

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (data manipulation, large datasets).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.

  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounting/tax qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT).

  • Knowledge of French or Italian (beneficial).

  • Experience in automation/process improvement.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, aligned with Amazon Leadership Principles.
