Senior Test Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer with specific integration and verification knowledge to join our team and contribute to ongoing systems integration projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for key I&V activities within an integrated team environment.

The Senior Test Engineer will collaborate with customers, suppliers, and I&V engineers to plan and manage the design, creation, and execution of system integration tests. Broad systems test experience is essential.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a significant programme delivering critical infrastructure vital to the future of UK National Security.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead a small team to deliver testing, ensuring milestones are met on time and quality standards are maintained.
• Manage the delivery of I&V services within the leadership team, addressing issues, resourcing, planning, and reporting.
• Review requirements and design documents, seeking clarification to define the full scope of testing.
• Create and review test plans and designs, coordinating with third-party suppliers to ensure coverage.
• Develop, review, and optimize testing processes.
• Document test results and defects.
• Produce test reports and provide interim progress updates.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Test experience with ISTQB Foundation Certificate and experience in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of the Testing Lifecycle, including Functional and Integration Testing.
• Experience in Systems Integration, including integrating third-party systems or components.
• Proven ability to own and deliver testing projects.
• Ability to analyze existing Test Processes and identify improvements.
• Experience in creating Test Cases from requirements and design documents.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated with proactive communication skills.
• Capability to troubleshoot and debug interface issues.
• Experience in reviewing test evidence from suppliers.
• Enthusiastic and proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Experience with large-scale, complex integration programmes.
• Good organizational and time management skills, capable of working independently and leading others.
• Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture.
• Experience with virtualized products/services/solutions.
• Familiarity with high-integrity or safety-related real-time systems.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks, such as keyword-driven frameworks.
• Experience with tools like DOORS, JIRA, and HPQC (ALM) or similar.

Minimum Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline, with significant professional experience, or a Master's degree with some experience, or a PhD/JD with no experience. Suitable for career or journey level candidates.

Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain or currently hold UK DV Clearance.
