As a Senior Technology Delivery Manager within the Chief Technology Office (CTO), you will operate at the centre of Home Office Digital, coordinating delivery activity across multiple initiatives and programmes. You will bring structure, pace and clarity to complex work, ensuring delivery efforts are aligned, dependencies are actively managed, and outcomes are delivered to agreed timelines.

The CTO team provides central leadership and coordination across Home Office Digital, setting direction and enabling delivery at scale. In this role, you will work closely with delivery teams, architects, engineers and senior stakeholders to turn agreed priorities into executable plans, track progress, surface risks early, and keep delivery moving across organisational boundaries.

This is a hands on delivery leadership role, focused on orchestrating work across teams rather than owning a single product or programme. You will be comfortable operating in ambiguity, managing competing priorities, and supporting multiple delivery streams to land outcomes in a fast moving environment.

Operating across the digital and technology landscape, you will help ensure delivery activity is well coordinated, transparent and outcome focused, while enabling teams to navigate governance and assurance processes effectively.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Job description

Working within the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Architect Office, this role operates at the centre of Home Office Digital. You will work closely with architect professionals and support cross organisational delivery by enabling effective governance, assurance and decision making across portfolios, helping ensure that architecture, strategy and delivery are aligned. This is a high impact role suited to someone who enjoys operating in complexity, influencing across boundaries, and turning strategic intent into practical, deliverable outcomes.

You will work across multiple programmes and initiatives, you will coordinate delivery efforts end to end, managing dependencies and sequencing to ensure progress against critical timelines. You will operate comfortably across organisational boundaries to keep delivery aligned and moving.

Main Responsibilities

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

• Work across delivery, architecture and engineering teams to coordinate delivery activity, manage dependencies, and enable effective decision making.
• Take responsibility for delivery of technology products and services, facilitating and coaching teams in using the most appropriate methodologies in complex, ambiguous situations. Facilitate structured approaches to problem-solving and competing user needs, continuously improving processes and performance.
• Support Architecture Communities of Practice (CoP), by helping to coordinate activity, clarify outcomes and maintain delivery momentum.
• Create and maintain realistic plans, keeping delivery on track within quality, cost, and time constraints. Remove blockers to success, managing stakeholders and engaging with governance as appropriate.
• Develop motivated, functioning teams, empowering collaboration and delivery while giving direction and constructive feedback. Monitor the profile and health of teams and work with them to resolve issues.
• Ensure that risks are identified, understood, and mitigated, involving specialists where necessary.
• Support architects and stakeholders to translate architectural risks and decisions into actionable delivery plans.
• Manage engagement with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Collect and use feedback to measure, develop and enhance stakeholder relationships and resolve issues.
• Act as a routine contact point for suppliers involved in delivery. Monitor supplier performance and help to resolve problems with suppliers.

Working Pattern

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis.

Essential Skills

You'll have a demonstrable passion for delivery with the following skills or proven experience in:

• Leading teams in different delivery approaches, such as Agile and Waterfall, guiding them in implementing the most appropriate methodology for the situation, while continuously reflecting and challenging them to inspect and improve processes,
• Facilitating teams in the delivery of technology products and services throughout their lifecycle,
• Creating the best team makeup for the situation, bringing people together into a motivated team, identifying and rectifying issues in the team dynamic,
• Identifying, prioritising and managing risks, issues and dependencies,
• Engaging, communicating and mediating between technical and non-technical stakeholders, managing stakeholder expectations, resolving issues and improving relationships,
• Monitoring the performance of suppliers and acting as a point of contact with them
• Proven ability to support and improve governance models, forums and assurance processes in a technology or architecture context
