The RoleWe are currently recruiting a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Nottingham office. The role involves providing professional structural engineering services to the Practice and its clients, with a focus on defence, secure infrastructure and aviation industries. The candidate should be experienced in coordinating a multidisciplinary design team, delivering technical design solutions in a process-driven environment, and preparing technical packages from conception through to completion.

Responsibilities- Work with the team leader to maintain a fee income target for the structural engineering team in Nottingham.
- Assist in promoting the Practice's structural engineering services.
- Design practical structural solutions and interpret architectural concepts in a practical and economical manner.
- Design and assist with supervising projects, establish client briefs, technical requirements, scope of works, cost plans and deliverables (reports, specifications and drawings).
- Define level of service and design duties for each project, aligned with the fee.
- Monitor engineering/CAD/Revit resource requirements for each project under your control.
- Carry out concept design to detailed design, tender and contract, and on-site supervision through to completion, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with the design team to produce coordinated designs that are technically compliant and of consistent quality; participate in design reviews.
- Monitor and control project progress, design variations and project budgets where applicable.
- Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
- Undertake structural surveys and produce reports as required.
- Contribute to fee quotations to assist in bidding for work as requested.
- Promote BIM and 3D design/drawings to comply with the Practice's BIM strategy and services.
- Act as Senior Structural Engineer on projects, attending site for Pre-Start and Project Meetings.
- Understand and clearly define clients' expectations, provide progress updates and communicate technical and financial implications.
- Support the development of junior team members through training and development.
- Design within a framework of client policy, process and regulations with attention to detail.
- Relevant MEng or BEng degree
- Working towards Chartership with IStructE or ICE
- Solid knowledge of building construction, Building Regulations and related legislation
- Experience on projects with contract values from £250k to £10m
- Excellent communication, problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
