Job Description
Overview:
The Kirkwall Hotel is a beautiful harbour front hotel friendly team that are looking to recruit a Senior Sous Chef for its busy kitchen. We've made some beautiful new changes to our beloved Kirkwall Hotel. With expansion plans in the future, there is opportunity to grow.
We are looking for a skilled and creative Senior Sous Chef to assist the head chef lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Senior Sous Chef along with the head chef will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, menu planning, and ensuring high-quality food production while maintaining a positive work environment.
Duties:
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills by effectively managing the kitchen team
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards
- Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and creating innovative dishes
- Supervise kitchen staff in various stations to maintain efficiency and quality
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong background in culinary arts, food production, and kitchen operations
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff
- Proficiency in supervising kitchen activities and ensuring adherence to recipes and standards
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Certification from a culinary school or relevant training is a plus
