Senior Security Officer

Location: Liverpool ONE Shopping Centre
Pay Rate: 16.09
Shifts: Hours of work a rolling pattern of 4 days working and 4 days off, 07:00-19:00.

About the Role

Mitie is seeking a professional and motivated Senior Security Officer to join our team at Liverpool ONE Shopping Centre. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team of security officers and work in a busy retail environment where you will play a vital role in protecting people, property, and assets while delivering an exceptional level of service.

You will be responsible for leading a team of security officers in maintaining a visible security presence through patrols, ensuring compliance with site procedures, and contributing to a safe and welcoming environment for customers, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities Managerial Duties

• Directly line manage, motivate, and inspire Security Officers to achieve exceptional customer service and professional standards
• Conduct and attend regular team operational briefings, toolbox talks, and cascade key corporate updates from the Security Operations Manager
• Set explicit, clear performance goals, daily responsibilities, and expected behavioral standards for your team
• Address early-stage team conduct, uniform, or punctuality issues promptly, creating a culture of personal accountability
• Assist in the interviewing and selection processes for onboarding new frontline officers and support personnel
• Foster an inclusive, supportive, and communicative environment where team collaboration thrives
• Mentor Security Officers to build their own skillset and capabillities.

Operational Duties

• Provide a professional security service in accordance with site Assignment Instructions (AIs)
• Ensure compliance with UK legislation, Mitie policies, and site procedures
• Review Assignment Instructions regularly and suggest improvements where appropriate
• Complete accurate incident reports and detailed notebook entries
• Conduct check calls at allocated times and follow site schedules
• Liaise with emergency services and Mitie's Communication Centre when required

Safety and Security

• Identify and report Health and Safety hazards promptly
• Remain alert to potential threats and respond appropriately
• Handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
• Use initiative and teamwork to prevent loss, damage, or disruption

Training and Development

• Complete all mandatory training and site-specific competencies
• Undertake additional training to support continuous professional development
• Use technology effectively to meet operational objectives
• Ensure SIA licence renewals are completed at least 16 weeks before expiry

What We Are Looking For

• Previous security experience
• Proven experience managing security team within a commercial, retail, or corporate environment
• Valid SIA Licence Door Supervision
• Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to high standards
