Job Description

Senior Scientist - Biomarker Development, Translational Medicine vacancy for our Basel based client in the Pharma sector.

As a Senior Scientist within Molecular & Cellular Sciences (MCS), you will play a critical role in executing exploratory biomarker strategies across our clinical pipeline. You will work at the intersection of biology, technology, and clinical development to deliver innovative biomarker solutions that enable smarter decisions and better outcomes for patients.

This is a hands on laboratory based position where you will develop state of the art biomarker assays across multiple programs, collaborate with global experts, and drive the implementation of cutting-edge biomarker technologies from early development through clinical studies.

Your tasks:

  • Develop and validate soluble biomarker assays, with a particular focus on ligand binding methods such as ELISA, MSD, NULISA and Ella.
  • Provide scientific and technical support for the transfer, implementation and monitoring of biomarker assay activities at external providers.
  • Generate, analyze and interpret biomarker assay data to support proof of mechanism, dose selection and proof of biology across early clinical programmes.
  • Act as scientific lead for exploratory soluble biomarker assays, ensuring robust strategy, documentation, data quality and alignment with clinical study endpoints.
  • Maintain high standards of scientific rigour, compliance, data integrity, safety and technical excellence throughout assay-related activities.

Your experience/knowledge:

  • Degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology or a related field, with at least 5 years' experience in a laboratory or pharmaceutical/biotechnology environment.
  • Strong practical experience in ligand binding assays; experience with LC-MS and other related technologies is an advantage.
  • Experience in assay development, validation, sample analysis and/or oversight of outsourced scientific activities.
  • Good knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to biomarker development, such as GCLP and ICH.
  • Good computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Soft MaxPro, SMART Book, GraphPad Prism and Watson LIMS.
  • Language skills: English
