Job Description

At DACS, we are dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights of visual artists. As the UK's leading organisation in this field, we ensure artists are properly compensated for the use of their work, helping artists to sustain their livelihoods.

The Licensing Team is responsible for managing the reproduction and use of members' artworks across a wide range of sectors, including museums and galleries, film and television, publishing, newspapers, advertising and design. The team works closely with customers to negotiate and process copyright permissions, ensuring that artists are fairly remunerated and their rights are protected.

In this role, you will be responsible for proactively promoting and selling DACS' licensing services to existing and prospective clients, as well as representing DACS at industry events. You will manage a portfolio of key accounts, acting as the primary liaison between clients, members and DACS' network of international sister societies. This includes negotiating copyright licences and image permissions, building strong stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage copyright licensing and image supply requests professionally,

efficiently, ensuring a high-quality client experience while contributing to

monthly and annual income targets.

• Act as a confident, approachable and professional representative of DACS,

providing excellent service to clients, members, artists' estates, sister

societies and other external stakeholders.

• Prepare clear cost estimates for customers and key accounts using DACS'

standard rates, leading fee discussions and negotiations where appropriate

to secure positive commercial outcomes.

• Manage and develop a portfolio of key accounts, building strong working

relationships through regular communication, a clear understanding of client

needs and proactive in-person engagement.

• Maintain and strengthen relationships with copyright owners, DACS' sister

societies and clients, using market knowledge and sector insight to identify

opportunities and support the growth of the Licensing service.

• Use data insights, client feedback and industry intelligence to support senior

colleagues in improving the department's strategy, processes, policies and

systems.

• Manage client and stakeholder data accurately and proactively, ensuring

DACS' databases are kept up to date and compliant with GDPR

requirements.

• Represent the department and DACS externally at industry, trade and

networking events, identifying opportunities to promote the Licensing service

and build new relationships.

• Actively build and maintain a strong professional network across the visual

arts, publishing, cultural, commercial and licensing sectors.

• Demonstrate confidence in negotiation, client development and salesfocused

conversations, with a proven ability to support income growth and

long-term client retention.

• Present confidently about DACS' Licensing service at relevant meetings,

events and conferences, supporting the department's profile and external

engagement objectives.

• Act as a key liaison between the Licensing and Communications teams,

supporting campaigns, client engagement activity and the promotion of

DACS' Licensing service to existing and prospective clients.

• Contribute proactively to the growth of DACS' Licensing services by

identifying opportunities, nurturing external relationships and supporting a

professional, responsive and commercially aware approach.

• Work collaboratively as part of the Licensing team to deliver or exceed

agreed targets.

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience managing inbound and outbound sales enquiries for a diverse

commercial client base.

• Ability to build and maintain positive client relationships, understanding

customer needs and delivering a high standard of service.

• Experience of preparing quotations, proposals or cost estimates and

supporting commercial discussions with clients.

• Experience presenting to organisations in meetings, networking events,

trade shows or other external-facing engagements.

• Experience of contributing to sales and income generation with evidence of

achieving individual or team targets.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence in

delivering presentations and speaking in front of audiences

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload,

prioritise tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience of using databases, CRM systems, or other business systems to

maintain accurate records and monitor activity.

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different teams while

taking ownership of individual responsibilities.

Desirable

• Experience of working with marketing, communications or business

development colleagues to support customer engagement, campaigns or

service promotion.

• Experience of using reporting, analytics or CRM tools to track activity, identify

within the creative or cultural sectors.

• Experience or interest in the visual arts, creative industries, museums, galleries, publishing, or related sectors.
