Senior SACT nurse

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and compassionate band 6 Chemotherapy Nurse to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Chemotherapy Day Unit and Homecare Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work across both clinic-based systemic anti cancer therapy (SACT) delivery and our growing homecare service, providing high quality, patient centred cancer care in both hospital and community settings.
As a senior nurse within our team, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, effective, and personalised treatment for patients undergoing SACT, while helping to develop innovative pathways that support care closer to home.
Main duties of the job- Deliver safe administration of systemic anti cancer therapies in line with national and local standards.
- Provide specialist clinical assessment, symptom management, toxicity monitoring, and patient education.
- Deliver chemotherapy and supportive treatments in patients' homes as part of our established homecare service.
- Act as a clinical role model, providing leadership, mentorship, and support to junior staff and students.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and pathway redesign.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold high standards of care, safety and infection prevention.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to enhance patient experience and outcomes.
- Escalate clinical concerns appropriately and in a timely manner, ensuring robust communication with oncologists, acute oncology and CNS teams.
Administer SACT and supportive treatments in home settings and the CDU in line with policy.
Monitor central venous access devices (CVADs) including PICCs, Hickman lines and ports, performing flushes, bloods and troubleshooting.
Independently plan and organise daily caseload across geographically dispersed areas, optimising travel and maintaining service efficiency.
Provide patient/carer education regarding treatment, side effects, emergency contacts and self care strategies.
Support the chemotherapy services manager in day to day leadership and management of the CDU.
Contribute to policy or pathway development relating to homecare chemotherapy.
Act as a clinical role model and resource for junior staff, students and new team members.
Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and carers, adapting style to individual needs.
To facilitate and participate in teaching and learning programme.

Qualifications- Registered Adult Nurse
- Practice assessor/supervisor
- Post graduate course in relevant field
- Driving licence
- Cannulation, venepuncture and CVAD competencies
- Advanced communication skills
- Recent and relevant SACT administration experience
- Experience in senior nursing role
