Job overview An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Radiographer to join our friendly and dynamic Imaging team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) in Brighton.

UHSussex provides care for 1.8 million service users across Sussex and its borders across five main hospital sites. RSCH is the largest site, providing district general, specialist and tertiary services to the residents of Brighton and Hove, mid Sussex and parts of East Sussex, in addition to being the major trauma centre for the whole of Sussex and the South East. The Brighton campus also includes the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital and the Sussex Eye Hospital.

The Imaging Department is predominantly based in Level 4 of the Louisa Martindale Building, with emergency x-ray and CT imaging services provided separately in our department on the acute floor. The Department currently has:
  • Canon and Siemens CT scanners.
  • Siemens and Philips MRI scanners, including 3T which will open in Spring 2025.
  • Philips IR suite and hybrid theatre.
The successful applicant will become a core part of our multidisciplinary team, rotating through all areas of plain film, fluoroscopy, mobile x-ray and theatres, whilst also having the opportunity to train in CT, MRI and Interventional Radiology. They will also be able to develop their role in the support and education of junior staff, students and other healthcare personnel.

Main duties of the job This Senior Rotational Radiographer role would suit radiographers who have good experience of working in a busy imaging department and wish to continue working in x-ray, whilst offering additional dedication to develop their career in the fields of CT, MRI and Interventional Radiology. This position offers the chance to be an integral part of our thriving Imaging team and work closely with like-minded radiographers, junior staff, radiologists, nurses, RDAs and HCAs.

The Imaging Department is supported by a team of Lead Superintendent Radiographers and Superintendent Radiographers and, in return of your commitment to us, we will provide on-going support for your professional development as well as a friendly, challenging and stimulating work environment.

With this role, there is a commitment to the out-of-hours service and extended working days.
