Senior Research Fellow on Web 3.0 and AI

We are seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Senior Research Fellow in Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to join the Department of Decision Analytics and Risk at Southampton Business School and contribute to the activities of the Blockchain and Supply Chain Research Group (BSCRG).
The successful candidate will undertake independent, internationally excellent research in areas related to Metaverse, Artificial Intelligence, Web 3.0 and blockchain technologies, while contributing to the development of an interdisciplinary academic-industry research ecosystem.
The postholder will be expected to develop and deliver rigorous and original research; produce high-quality academic outputs; identify and develop new research and funding opportunities; and collaborate with academics, industry partners and other stakeholders.
You will also contribute to the development of BSCRG through collaboration with colleagues, supervision and support of postgraduate researchers and research assistants, and engagement with the Group's research, education and knowledge-exchange activities.
We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Artificial Intelligence and AI-generated content (AIGC)
- Metaverse and Web 3.0
- Blockchain technologies and applications
- Tokenomics and digital business models
- Smart contracts
- Crypto-assets and NFTs
- Economics of digitisation and the digital economy
- AI and blockchain applications in business and supply chains
Applicants should possess substantial knowledge and experience relevant to Metaverse and AI. This would normally be supported by relevant professional experience and/or a postgraduate qualification, such as a Master's degree or PhD, in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Economics, Finance or another relevant discipline.
The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both academic colleagues and industry executives. Experience of AI or blockchain coding would be advantageous.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to undertake interdisciplinary research at the intersection of emerging digital technologies and business applications, while working closely with academic and industry partners.
