Job Description

MWH Treatment is looking to strengthen our Commercial team with a Senior Quantity Surveyor based at Coppermills, with hybrid working available.

You will report directly to the Commercial Manager and be responsible for the commercial management of projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Quantity surveying duties related to managing projects and work packages
  2. Collaborating with design, construction, and supply chain teams to capture, analyze, and control costs
  3. Working with clients to ensure business requirements are met
  4. Managing the main contract, including identifying and raising contractual notices and correspondence as necessary
  5. Preparing and issuing subcontract documentation
  6. Assisting in managing and evaluating subcontractors' performance
  7. Managing the preparation and agreement of payment applications
  8. Preparing project cost & value reports, budgets, and forecasts
  9. Supporting the development of junior commercial staff

Additional responsibilities:

  • Ensuring continuous professional development through external networking, conferences, or associations to stay current with industry changes
  • Maintaining a positive, solution-oriented approach and providing honest feedback
  • Undertaking other duties, training, and hours as reasonably required, consistent with the role's responsibilities
  • Representing the department professionally in all internal and external contacts and maintaining positive relationships
  • Ensuring confidentiality in all aspects of work

Essential requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Working towards or holding chartered membership of a recognized institution
  • Experience in utilities, civil engineering, or MEICA sectors
  • Experience with NEC3 contracts

Desirable:

  • Experience in managing and developing individuals or small teams
