An opportunity has arisen for an experienced prosthetist to join the prosthetic team based at the TORT Centre in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The position is for a senior prosthetist who will be responsible for supporting the head of service in the day-to-day clinical and professional leadership of the team of prosthetists and prosthetic technicians. They support the head of service in governance, strategic development and quality improvement activities. They will work closely with the senior prosthetic technician ensuring that the team has clinical and technical capacity including staff and material resources to meet patient demand.
Responsibilities- Provide evidence of recent practice as a prosthetist in NHS or private healthcare.
- Apply extensive knowledge of prosthetics and be highly skilled in the provision of modular prostheses, practical knowledge of materials and production techniques, use of equipment and specialist tools.
- Support training and mentoring of new staff members, students and demonstrate new skills to less experienced clinicians.
- Support the head of service in maintaining the highest standards of prosthetic delivery, driving efficiency and leading on the implementation of compliance with Medical Device Regulations.
- Manage a personal clinical caseload, treating hospital in-patients and out-patients at clinics, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and healthcare practices.
- Work within multi-disciplinary teams and support the head of service in governance, strategic development and quality improvement activities.
- Honours degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Prosthetist.
- Extensive experience in leadership roles within a clinical environment.
- Evidence of recent practice in NHS or private healthcare.
- Comprehensive knowledge of modular prostheses, materials, production techniques and specialist tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Meet the mandatory induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland.
- Comply with the Code of Conduct throughout employment.
- Hours of work are 36 hours per week.
