Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical)

The Opportunity

Our client, a London-based engineering team are expanding their team to meet growing demand across UK defence projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global consultancy that prides itself on delivering excellent work, where every project matters.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll take ownership of medium-to-large scale projects, leading design from concept through to delivery. You'll collaborate across multiple disciplines, drive technical excellence, and build long-term client partnerships that shape repeat success. Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Lead delivery of mechanical building services designs from concept to construction.
• Act as Project Leader on medium-to-large projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, fire, hydraulics, and more).
• Review contractor submissions and oversee construction administration.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, developing team capability.

You will have the following qualifications & experience

• A recognised mechanical engineering qualification
• 8-10 years' engineering experience in mechanical building services design.
• Proven project leadership/project management experience with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
• Knowledge of RIBA Stages 1-4A.

It's great if you also have the following

• Experience with defence sector or large-scale commercial projects.
• Familiarity with other disciplines (electrical, public health, fire protection).
• Experience mentoring or training junior engineers.
