Oxford Flow was founded in 2015 as a spin-out from The University of Oxford and produces some of the most precise and accurate flow control valves in the world. We are an engineering led technology company which has revolutionized valve design with our range of Zero emissions control valves and regulators; these products will transform global fugitive emissions in industries such as oil & gas, gas transmission & distribution, and other process industries.

The addressable market for Oxford Flow's innovative technology is a £5bn sector of the global £70bn valve and actuator market.

The company has recently secured £20m investment from two major strategic organisations to accelerate its growth plans and we are seeking talented individuals to be part of the exciting journey to follow.

The Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Senior Production Engineer will be a crucial member of the team to design, install, implement, monitor, and develop all systems that affect the manufacturing cycle of our products. This is a hands-on position where you will be expected to lead initiatives, drive improvements, and actively troubleshoot and resolve issues within the department.

The Senior Production Engineer will work to integrate the manufacturing process, ranging from new product introduction to delivery of products through the manufacturing plant. The Production Engineering team will ensure maximum volume of high-quality products are produced at the lowest cost in the shortest time, and use a systematic approach to finance, methods, materials, and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with providing engineering support to production to improve and sustain products/processes at maximum possible efficiencies and quality levels.
  • Act as a superuser for the MRP system:
  • Ensure no system downtime
  • Design and implement reports for business requirements
  • Develop database links utilising SQL to create product configurator tools
  • Monitor the system to ensure data is correct, preventing future failures
  • Implement system upgrades
  • Maintain the parts database, BOM and configuration within MRP system
  • Assist with monitoring performance against targeted KPI's & metrics. The Production Engineer shall investigate any non-conformance or efficiency issues that may occur, driving any engineering changes required as well as supporting assigned manufacturing projects
  • Help define, Implement, and maintain the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and manufacturing processes which are:
  • Robust
  • Repeatable
  • Proven & validated
  • Work with the Production Engineering team to ensure NPI projects are transferred into production within a defined timeframe ensuring robust, repeatable processes:
  • Design FMEA/ Process FMEA / Control Plans / Work Instructions / Accurate BOMS & meet project cost targets
  • Help deliver operational process support and improvement activities for specific production cells, including:
  • Production cell layout and process flow
  • Manufactured part quality and yield
  • Quality Control metrics for in-process (e.g., First Time Pass Rate)
  • Review the bill of materials ensuring they have been validated as correct for new and existing products
  • Assist with the design of plant and processes ensuring they are compliant to health and safety regulations and best practices
  • Train production staff on new product manufacture and new methods
  • Test, monitor and evaluate electro-mechanical aspects of production cells
  • Maintain a quality culture within the manufacturing environment
  • Support the implementation production engineering best practices
  • Maintain Excel functions and programs linked to processes

Required Skills and Experience

  • A background in mechanical engineering discipline is required and the relevant practical experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-changing environment under pressure
  • Skills, experience, and expertise in supporting new and existing production lines
  • Adaptable to accept new changes in production engineering
  • Ability to identify problems and resolve them quickly
  • Results oriented and commercial awareness
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with multiple departments including the engineering team.
  • Ability to work with IT systems and possess a good level of PC literacy including Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with a MRP system is essential and experience with NAV or Factory Master is advantageous but not essential

Other Information

  • Based at our Tungsten Park, Witney site
  • Permanent, full-time role. Mon - Fri. 37.5 hours per week
  • 25 days' holiday per year plus all statutory holidays (in England)
