Senior/ Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Support, develop, and continually improve offshore geotechnical and installation data acquisition, interpretation, and reporting.
• Prepare specifications, assess technical tenders, collate and review acquired data, ensuring surveys deliver high quality data to optimise engineering solutions.
• Work with construction projects, integrating as built data for foundations and cable installations, and performing inverse analysis and observational engineering.
• Perform quality control (QC) of large, diverse geotechnical datasets.
• Manage projects efficiently, ensuring on time completion and delivery.
• Utilise and interpret geotechnical in situ and lab test data effectively.
• Support R&D activities, contributing to the development of in house geotechnical tools and their integration with structural and installation teams.
• Involved in bid data analysis and implementation of ML or AI models.
• Involved in pile driving monitoring, data management, analysis, signal matching, and back calculation of driving logs.

Qualifications

• MSc (or equivalent) in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related geoscience discipline with significant geotechnical focus. Chartered status or equivalent, or working towards it.
• Offshore geotechnical experience, supporting all aspects of offshore windfarm design and installation, including HDDs, cables, and foundations.
• Ability to communicate findings to management, external stakeholders, and internal teams; develop project geohazard risk registers.
• Experience integrating data sets and familiarity with international standards and ASTM requirements.
• Skill in advanced geotechnical statistical models such as Bayesian frameworks or machine learning and AI based approaches.
• Experience in seismic geotechnical engineering, PSHA, SSRA, and liquefaction assessment.
• Experience in design and installation of gravity based foundations for offshore wind turbines.
• Strong scripting and programming skills; proficiency with geotechnical software tools.
• Experience with pile monitoring systems and signal matching.
• Demonstrated history of developing innovative approaches to geotechnical engineering topics.
• Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation as it applies to geotechnical work.
• Legal right to work in the UK or Denmark.
• Ability to pass National Security vetting to SC level.

Additional Skills

• Familiarity with SQL datasets.
• Experience with cloud based solutions.
