Job Description
About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Highpoint, a Category C prison located in the village of Stradishall, Suffolk. The Primary Care team consists of 15 staff including Senior Primary Care Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Non Medical Prescribers. The prison is split into two sites: the North Building (around 390 males) and the South Building (around 950 males). Both sites have designated Healthcare Departments where you will be based.

Hours
  • Monday - Sunday service, 37.5 hours per week, 7.45am - 18.15pm (no night shifts)
  • Every other weekend and bank holiday included as part of rota
  • 4 week rolling rota
  • Open to discuss lower hours
Salary and induction

Full time. Annual salary up to £43,609-£49,175 per annum, depending on experience. Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course.

Candidate requirements

Legal right to work in the UK. Additional vetting and security checks will be required.

Main duties
  • Lead a multi disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
  • Seek out, listen to and act on patient feedback to deliver personalised care
  • Deliver non judgemental care aligned with the Health in Justice competency framework
  • Build strong links with partners and stakeholders to provide a trusted service
  • Embed evidence based care and continuous quality improvement, endorsing a culture of shared learning
  • Build and support strong multi disciplinary teams to achieve excellent outcomes
Qualifications and experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Understanding of multi disciplinary and multi agency working
  • Non judgemental and compassionate approach
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential)
