We are currently supporting a leading energy trading firm in their search for a high-calibre Senior Power Trader to join their desk in London. This is a key strategic hire, aimed at expanding their short-term trading capabilities across the UK and European power markets. The ideal candidate will bring a proven PnL track record, deep market insight, and the ability to operate with a high level of autonomy within a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of short-term power trading activities across key European markets (e.g., UK, France, Germany, Nordics), including Day-Ahead and Intraday.
  • Execute proprietary strategies and optimise asset-backed positions in close coordination with analytics, forecasting, and operations teams.
  • Develop and maintain trading models, tools, and dashboards to support real-time decision-making.

  • Work collaboratively with risk, origination, and technology teams to ensure seamless trade execution and strategy alignment.
  • Mentor and support junior traders and analysts as needed.

Candidate Profile:

  • 5-10+ years of experience in short-term or proprietary power trading, with a demonstrable PnL record.

  • Technical proficiency in Python, VBA, or other relevant tools for data analysis and automation.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to take risk-managed positions and adapt strategies to changing market conditions.
  • Experience in working with cross-border flows, interconnectors, or ancillary services is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a high-performance trading environment.

Why Apply?

  • Join a well-capitalised, forward-thinking trading firm with a strong presence across European energy markets.
  • Take on significant responsibility and PnL ownership from day one.
  • Work in a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture that values innovation and rewards performance.
  • Attractive compensation structure with strong upside potential.
